In 1 Corinthians 6:19b to 1 Corinthians 6:20, Paul reminds the Corinthians that they belong to God just as slaves belong to a master. Christ’s blood is the price
with which they have been bought.
In the Roman world, the position of a slave was not necessarily a humiliating position. The slaves of rich and influential people often enjoyed a high status themselves. What an honour, then, to be a slave of Christ, the king of heaven and earth!
These two gracious acts of God—the act of indwelling the believer through his Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19), and the act of redeeming the believer in Christ—leaves the believer with only one proper response: So glorify God in your body.
20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
