A passionate commitment to proper worship is important.1 Given the context of the passage (which shows us an appropriate response to God’s grace), maybe the emphasis should fall on the western tribes and their concern for obedience and worship. Even if it means the death of their brothers, God’s glory must come first. Those who refuse to submit to Christ must be kept from the Lord’s Table or be excommunicated.
