In the previous verse, Daniel asked the chief of the eunuchs whether an exception can be made for him and his three friends. Now we need to pay close attention to what happens. The Lord causes Ashpenaz to be well disposed toward Daniel and his friends. The Lord works with Ashpenaz in such a way that he does not immediately become very angry with Daniel and his friends. The Lord God makes sure that the four boys are not immediately killed for their criticism of the rules of the great Nebuchadnezzar.
9 And God gave Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the chief of the eunuchs,
