There is a difference, however, from the request Daniel made to Ashpenaz in Daniel 1:10. Daniel now asks for a short ten day trial period. It seems that chances are very slight that this official will grant Daniel’s request, because it involves a big risk for him. If his boss finds out, it could have major consequences for him.
The four friends have to work hard while they take only vegetables and water as their nourishment. Their instruction continues, with them studying the books filled with the science of the day, but the Lord makes sure that they are able to continue their training with the necessary dedication and concentration. He makes sure that they are good students.
