Daniel 4:19 (ESV)

19 Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was dismayed for a while, and his thoughts alarmed him. The king answered and said, “Belteshazzar, let not the dream or the interpretation alarm you.” Belteshazzar answered and said, “My lord, may the dream be for those who hate you and its interpretation for your enemies!

Daniel hears and sees the dream. When he has heard everything, he is startled. He realizes that the message he has to tell the king will be very difficult to process. You can note the shock and bewilderment on Daniel’s face. The king then responds to Daniel’s body language. He urges him to simply tell him what this dream means. Daniel makes it clear how he is affected by this dream by saying that he wishes that the message of this dream would affect the king’s opponents. Then he continues with the explanation.
