Daniel’s attitude, however, is not, Look at how good I am, and how far above all the other scholars I am.
In his introduction he does not compare himself at all with the other scholars. On the contrary, he shows that revelation is not a human matter. Daniel points away from himself. He lets it be known that he too does not possess any special gift in the revelation of secrets. He is not a god and he certainly is not the only living God. In himself he is as powerless in this matter as all the other Babylonian wise men. For him to be able to tell the truth, he is dependent on the God of heaven who will reveal it to him.
The great world ruler, Nebuchadnezzar, also depends on God. The future is not in the hands of this king or of the gods of Babylon. The future is in the hands of God, who dwells in heaven. Only because this God has told Daniel the future, he can now tell the king. We read here that what is about to be revealed will especially be about the future, He has made it known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in later times.
Without going into the actual explanation of the dream at this point, it is clear that the Lord's message to Nebuchadnezzar is that the future is not in the hands of the Babylonian king.
If Nebuchadnezzar wants to be delivered from his mental turmoil, he has to put his life in the hands of the Lord. Everything is in the hands of the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ. You will receive rest and peace only with that God and with the Saviour, whom he has sent.
