1. 2 Peter 1:8 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What are the qualities that Peter is referring to?

2 Peter 1:8 (ESV)

8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Peter is referring to the virtues that he has just mentioned (2 Peter 1:5–7). He expects Christian believers to have these virtues and to increase in moral character throughout their days. The best way to resist the incursion of the heretics is thus to grow in moral character.1
