What does 2 Peter 2:1-3 reveal about what God does in my place and on my behalf (the work of the Son)? When speaking about the false teachers, Peter explicitly mentions the sovereign Lord who brought them.
In this we have a testimony about the work of the Son, Jesus Christ. He is the Lord who brought us (Christians). Through his blood he ransomed us from death, paying the penalty that we deserve for our sin (see 1 Peter 1:18–19). He was our Lord on account of being our Creator, now he is our Lord also on account of being our Redeemer.
1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.
