What does 2 Peter 1:12-15 reveal about what God does in my place and on my behalf (the work of the Son)? The truth which we have is the truth of what God has done for us in Christ. Specifically the certainty about a rich welcome into his eternal kingdom (2 Peter 1:11) on account of Christ’s righteousness being imputed to us through faith (2 Peter 1:1). As a result of this reality, Peter can write about living in the tent of this body because he knows that his life will continue after death. Death is not the end because Christ has borne the burden of God’s wrath against his (Peter’s) sin and the sin of all those who trust in Christ.
12 Therefore I intend always to remind you of these qualities, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have.
