Revelation of God the Son

2 Peter 2:4–10 (ESV)

4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment;

What does 2 Peter 2:4-10a reveal about what God does in my place and on my behalf (the work of the Son)? The righteousness which I need to stand before God and escape judgment is not a righteousness that I can earn, it is a righteousness that God must give me. This righteousness has been earned for me by Jesus Christ. He is the only person who has ever perfectly obeyed God’s law, the only person worthy of standing in God’s presence, and the only person who does not deserve judgment because he has never sinned. Through faith in him, his righteousness has been imputed to me and my sins have been washed away.
