What does 2 Peter 3:11-13 reveal about what God does in my place and on my behalf (the work of the Son)? Jesus Christ is both Lord and Saviour. He is the one who has lived the perfect life in my place and paid the penalty for my sin so that I do not have to fear judgment and destruction when the Lord returns in glory. Specifically, he is also my righteousness, or to put it differently, his righteousness has been imputed to me. I do not deserve to live in God’s new creation because I am by nature sinful and deserving of God’s wrath. Christ, however, was a truly righteous man. He deserves to live in the new creation and through faith in him, his righteousness is credited to me so that I may also look forward to life in God’s presence on the new earth.
11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness,
