Now the man who radiates such tremendous glory, and yet very clearly comes to Daniel in human form, can tell him that there is peace. God’s peace goes with Daniel. In God’s power Daniel can now be strong. He receives his strength and salvation outside of himself. It lies in Christ. His peace also lies in Christ who will also make the necessary sacrifice for him.
Here we already see a clear indication that the Son of God will become man. That he will come as the Saviour, as the man Jesus Christ (see 1 Timothy 2:5) to earn God’s peace for men. Now Daniel is ready to listen intently to what the Son of God has to say and to understand what he is saying.
19 And he said, “O man greatly loved, fear not, peace be with you; be strong and of good courage.” And as he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.”
