Her husband told her where he would be that afternoon. He called his wife the most beautiful woman of all. She should come to the shepherds’ camp. She who takes care of some young goats will find him there. He is already looking forward to seeing her there this afternoon. It will be wonderful to have his wife with him again for a little while.

Here we see how things should be in a marriage according to God’s love. You want to be with the other person. It is not good for you if the other person goes away, especially if it is for a few days or even for a longer time. It is not a good sign if you think to yourself: It is nice that he or she is gone for a while. At least now I have my freedom and my peace. Then something in your married life is not right. Then you need to talk about this together. Also include this in prayer. Pray for more love for each other. Love seeks out the other partner and always wants to be as close as possible to the other. Then life is good, then you do not feel shackled, then being together is experiencing true, intimate freedom.

This is only possible when we want to live close to Christ. Anyone who knows the love of Christ will feel bad when there is distance between him and the Lord in his life. Instead, you want to return to the Lord and stand again in the circle of the light of his grace and love.
