Peter notes that they “rejoice,” a repeat of the word Peter used in 1 Peter 1:6. The repetition of the word serves to underline the centrality that “joy” may have in the life of the Christian. After all, because of Christ’s resurrection, the Christian is born again to a living hope, confident he will receive an imperishable inheritance.
