Sermon goal of Acts 1:12-26

Acts 1:12–26 (ESV)

12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey away.

The book of Acts recounts the spread of the early church and the manner in which Christ works to take the gospel from Jerusalem, to Samaria, and finally to the ends of the world (Acts 1:8). In your second sermon you must show how Christ is reorganizing the people of God, how he is in control of history, and how he is concerned for the proclamation of truth. In each of these main points you will have a chance to make applications that help Christians. In particular you must challenge the secular ideas that the New Testament is not accurate because it is based on hearsay.
