1. Acts 2:39 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

To what promise is Peter referring?

Acts 2:39 (ESV)

39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”

Most certainly Peter is referring to the promise of the gift of the Spirit, which likely also includes the promise of forgiveness of sins.1 That is to say, the promise is the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Spirit for all those who repent of their sins and are united to Christ through faith.
