The book of Acts recounts the spread of the early church and the manner in which Christ works to take the gospel from Jerusalem, to Samaria, and finally to the ends of the world (Acts 1:8). In this sermon you must focus on the life of the early church. Acts 2:42–47 provides us with a very helpful summary of what the early church did. A summary that can serve as a model and vision for us to follow today. Your sermon should aim to explain what it means to be devoted to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayers. Once you have done that you should call on church members to strive to be what God has made us to be and wants us to be.
42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
