This paragraph brings to an end not just the vision concerning Babylon begun in Revelation 17:1–18 but also the wider section concerning the seven bowls of God’s wrath begun in Revelation 15:1–8. This sets John up for the final section of the book of Revelation, Revelation 19:11 – 22:21.
