Why did the bleeding woman attempt to touch Jesus without being noticed?

Mark 5:27–28 (ESV)

27 She had heard the reports about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment.

Mark does not bother to explain this detail, so once again we cannot be sure what her motives were. Some have suggested that it is because the woman—aware of her uncleanness—fears the repercussions of unlawful contact. Others think she is motivated by shame to remain hidden rather than cause a fuss.1
