The husband’s model in honouring his wife is none less than the Lord God. Old Testament Israel as the bride of the Lord was distinctly weak and exceedingly vulnerable to sin, yet the Lord extended abundant value to her with his glorious promises (Ezekiel 16:1–63). The apostle Paul develops that same theme in Ephesians 5:25–26 when he draws out how much Jesus Christ as Bridegroom gave up for his bride in his effort to make her holy and without blemish.
Living with
a wife involves doing all of life with her. In Christian marriage husband and wife are so much one flesh
that they share much more than their bodies. God would have there be an intimacy of heart and soul, including praying for each other and with each other.
7 Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
