Like the devil and the beast and the false prophet, this is where “Death and Hades” are eternally consigned. It must be so because Christ Jesus, after he atoned for sin, arose from the dead and demonstrated his mastery over Death (see 1 Corinthians 15:54–55). Defeated Death has no place in God’s world. So Hades as the realm of the Dead must follow on Death’s heels to the same destination. It should further be noted that Death (and hence Hades as realm of the dead) entered God’s perfect world upon the instigation of the devil (Genesis 2:17; Genesis 3:1–7). It is only fitting that Death and Hades should join the devil in the lake of fire.
14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
