The titles of both Psalm 57 and Psalm 142 appear to connect with 1 Samuel 24: For the director of music. To the tune of Do Not Destroy.
Of David. A miktam. When he had fled from Saul into the cave. It could also be a reference to David’s time in the cave at Adullam (1 Samuel 22:1-2).
Psalm 57 appears to illustrate David’s reverence for God and reliance on him (Psalm 57:1,4). He trusts in God to deliver him from his trouble, to bring judgement in his time (Psalm 57:3). Given these statements, it would be good to sing Psalm 57 in response to your sermon.
