Money in and of itself is not sinful or wicked, nor is it renounced by Jesus as such.1 It is a good gift from God, a resource that makes it easier to trade and exchange various goods and services. This characteristic also means that it is very tempting for people with a sinful nature to seek after money. As the apostle Paul will also testify, the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil (1 Timothy 6:10).
24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
