Amos 5:1–17 (ESV)

1 Hear this word that I take up over you in lamentation, O house of Israel:

What does Amos 5:1–17 reveal about what God does (through the work of the Son) in my place and on my behalf?

God uses his power not for greed but service. In the person of Jesus Christ, God came to live the perfect life in my place and bear the just punishment that my sin deserves. As a result, God can forgive my sins whilst at the same time remaining just. He can promise me eternal life with him through faith in Jesus Christ.
