Having heard that God will bring judgment on Israel, your sermon now seeks to certify that judgment is certain and it is not simply the rumblings of a crazy prophet. Helping church members to understand that a dialogue is taking place between Amos and the people of Israel, makes it easier for them to listen and understand the message and apply it today. In particular, you want church members to realize that repetition of judgment is necessary if we are to take the warnings of Scripture seriously. As with your previous sermon, you should once again explain that the only way of escaping God’s wrath is through faith in Jesus Christ and not on account of any privileges that we might enjoy (e.g. being a member in a church etc.). You can also help church members to understand that true faith shows itself in a desire to obey God’s commandments.
