1. Psalm 142:2 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What is the significance of God’s face mentioned in verse Psalm 142:2?

Psalm 142:2 (ESV)

2 I pour out my complaint before him; I tell my trouble before him.

The psalm says: “I pour my complaint out before him (in Hebrew: before his face).” When you feel lonely it is important to meet someone, and God is the best person to meet when you feel alone. This personal interaction is beautifully expressed in Psalm 27:8–9: “You have said: ‘Seek my face.’ My heart says to you: ‘Your face, Lord, do I seek.’ Hide not your face from me.” Faith is very personal.
