King Nebuchadnezzar can hardly believe that this man can reveal to him the dream and its interpretation. He therefore asks again if this is really true.
We also see here that Daniel is addressed at court by the name Belteshazzar. This name, as previously noted, refers to the Babylonian god Bel. Yet Daniel does not honour this idol in any way. On the contrary, Belteshazzar will show the king that it is not Bel who is God, but the Lord. Not Bel but the Lord will show what Nebuchadnezzar has dreamed. Only the Lord can reveal the unknown.
Daniel also demonstrates that it was not the Babylonian gods who gave this dream to the king, and therefor it is also only the Lord who can give the proper explanation of it.
26 The king declared to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, “Are you able to make known to me the dream that I have seen and its interpretation?”
