What does 2 Peter 1:1-4 reveal about what God does in my place and on my behalf (the work of the Son)?

Christ has given me a precious faith by which I am united to him and can know peace with God. This happens not because I have honoured God but because Christ has lived the perfect life in my place and died the death that I deserve. As a result of what Christ did, my sins can be forgiven and I can be made right in God’s sight. This is the good news of the gospel, the precious faith to which I hold fast.
