The idea of heretics being wolves who seek to deceive God’s people naturally prompts us to consider the good Shepherd who guards the sheep. Christ is the good Shepherd (John 10:1–42) who not only lays down his life for the sheep but continues to care and provide day by day (Psalm 23:1–6). We can thank him for raising up ministers like Peter and for the letters he wrote to help God’s church stand firm against the heretics. We can also trust Christ to continue caring for his church today, that he will guard us despite the presence of false teachers.
