When Antiochus is on his way to Egypt with his army, he also passes through the glorious land,
i.e., Israel. We also hear that many countries will fall
(NIV, NASB). This indicates that many nations at that time will have to recognize Antiochus as their superior. In the area around Israel, it is only Edom, Moab, and some of the Ammonites who are not subjected to Antiochus. He was in such a hurry to get to Egypt that he did not interfere further with these countries and peoples, which lie to the east of Israel.
41 He shall come into the glorious land. And tens of thousands shall fall, but these shall be delivered out of his hand: Edom and Moab and the main part of the Ammonites.
