1. Isaiah 16:6 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

How does this second lament (Isaiah 16:6–12) differ from the first part in Isaiah 15?

Isaiah 16:6 (ESV)

6 We have heard of the pride of Moab how proud he is! of his arrogance, his pride, and his insolence; in his idle boasting he is not right.

After the glimmer of hope seen in Isaiah 16:1–5, Isaiah speaks yet again of the grim reality of the judgment to come over Moab. As in Isaiah 15:1–9, the main theme is the destruction of Moab. Here, however, Isaiah also uses some harsher words. He sharply criticizes their pride.
