Jesus Christ is the King who remained faithful to God in all circumstances. Where we are faithless and often abandon God’s commandments when obedience becomes costly, he obeyed to the end. Through his perfect obedience he merited eternal life in God’s presence. Being a sinless man, he was also able to bear the punishment we deserve for our failures, which is what he did when he died on the cross.

God the Holy Spirit helps me to trust God when my life and circumstances are difficult. He reminds me in my suffering that I am completely dependent upon God for all that I have and thereby strengthens my faith.
