Revelation of God the Father

Amos 4:1–13 (ESV)

1 “Hear this word, you cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Samaria, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who say to your husbands, ‘Bring, that we may drink!’

What does Amos 4 reveal about who God is (the work of the Father)? God is holy (Amos 4:2). He is not like man; he is completely different and he swears by himself (his holiness) since there is no one greater than God.

God will punish sin. He is not blind to the actions of the Samarian women. They will be held accountable for their treatment of the poor (Amos 4:2).

God is in control of creation. The Lord sends disasters upon his people. Nature is under his control (Amos 4:6–11).

God is Creator. The Lord is the one who formed the mountains and creates the wind (Amos 4:13).

God is a communicator. The Lord reveals his thoughts to man (Amos 4:13).
