Revelation of God the Father

Amos 1:1–2 (ESV)

1 The words of Amos, who was among the shepherds of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

What does Amos 1:1-2 reveal about who God the Father is?

God is someone who speaks and reveals himself to his people. He raises up prophets to communicate his words on his behalf.

God is eager to dwell amongst his people and enjoy fellowship with them. He roars from Zion, Jerusalem, where his presence has been made known in the temple.

God is powerful in controlling history and creation. He sent Amos to the people of the northern kingdom at exactly the time of his choosing. He causes pastures to dry up and sends drought.
