What does Acts 8:26–40 reveal about what God does in my place and on my behalf (the work of the Son)? The clearest pointer to Jesus Christ is found in the words quoted from Isaiah 53:1–12. He is the one who suffered and died in order to ensure that sinners can be forgiven. It is on account of his perfect life and atoning death that outcasts can be welcomed back into God’s presence. By nature we all deserve God’s judgment, to be estranged from his presence for eternity. However, by the grace of God in Jesus Christ, we can be made right with God and gathered to be part of his people.
