Revelation of God the Son

Joshua 24:1–28 (ESV)

1 Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem and summoned the elders, the heads, the judges, and the officers of Israel. And they presented themselves before God.

What does Joshua 24 reveal about what God does in my place and on my behalf (the work of the Son)? God the Son has come to deal with the problem of my sin. Since God is holy and cannot dwell with sinners, I need to be made clean and given a perfect righteousness if I am to enjoy life in his presence. Jesus Christ came to live that perfect life in my place and on my behalf so that his righteousness can be imputed to me. He also bore the burden of God’s wrath when he paid the penalty for my sin on the cross. As a result, God can be gracious, forgiving my sin on account of Christ and I can look forward to life in his presence since I am covered by the righteousness of Christ.
